Jake Gallagher, from Ryde, said lead singer of the band, Roy Stride, has even promised to come to the wedding.

Jake, 26, asked girlfriend Ellie Phillips, 18, to marry him at a concert in Guildford last night (Sunday).

Having been a big fan of the band for years, members know Jake well and he arranged to come on stage at the end of the couple's favourite song, Home.

He picked that song because the lyrics are particularly poignant to the pair.

Of course, Ellie said yes — which prompted a huge cheer from the crowd.

Jake was so nervous, he skipped a heartbeat.

"I was shaking", he told the County Press.

"I struggled to put the ring on her finger I was shaking so much."

Ellie used to live in Cyprus and she met Jake while on holiday on the Island, later moving here.

Speaking of the proposal, Jake said: "It was the perfect place to do it."

After the gig, Roy Stride came to see the couple in the bar and said he would come to the wedding.

He also gave them tickets to a show in October and a signed set list.

Scouting for Girls are set to headline the Big Top on the Thursday of the Isle of Wight Festival.
