Oakhaven Hospice is initiating a new Business Enterprise Challenge on May 12, in line with International Nurses Day.

The goal is to gather funds from local businesses enough to finance a specialist nurse for one year.

This initiative is supported by The Beaverbrook Foundation, inviting companies to transform £100 into over £1,000 by November 30, 2024.

Last year, Oakhaven's nursing team tended to nearly 1,400 patients, providing services at the hospice and patient homes across the New Forest, Totton, and Waterside communities.

Continuous demand growth means additional nurses are needed to ensure all patients receive the necessary palliative and end-of-life care.

Participation in Oakhaven's Business Enterprise Challenge will contribute to ensuring that Oakhaven’s specialized nurses are readily accessible.

Director of patient services, Denise Major, said: "At Oakhaven Hospice our committed nurses are highly skilled and dedicated to providing end-of-life care. Without them, we could not achieve the growing need for vital patient care.

"By taking part in the Business Enterprise Challenge, your business can make a difference in the lives of those with a life-limiting illness and their families living in your community."
