Hilarious whodunnit Cluedo is back on stage in 2024 with a new chapter, starring reigning Strictly Come Dancing champion and former Corrie star Ellie Leach in her stage acting debut as Miss Scarlet and Jason Durr of Casualty and Heartbeat fame as Colonel Mustard.

Cluedo has been a stalwart of family life since the Hasbro board game -which celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2024 - was launched at the end of the 40s. Then, in 1985, Clue, The Movie, was a big hit when it was released. Fast forward to 2022 and a stage production of the film, based on Lynn’s original script, toured the UK.

Now comes Cluedo 2 – The Next Chapter.

With an original new story set in the Swinging Sixties, featuring The Honourable Mrs. Emerald Peacock, Colonel Eugene Mustard, ‘Professor’ Alex Plum, Miss Annabel Scarlett, the ‘Reverend’ Hal Green and the housekeeper, Mrs White, Cluedo 2 is a riotous spoof, a comedy thriller penned by the BAFTA Award- winning TV writing duo, Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, whose numerous credits include Birds of a Feather, Goodnight Sweetheart and Dreamboats and Petticoats. Like Cluedo 1, it’s directed by Mark Bell, director of the worldwide hit, The Play That Goes Wrong.

Ellie Leach said: "It is nerve-wracking as it’s something completely different to TV but I really want to push myself out of my comfort zone. A year ago, I would never have expected Strictly, then the Strictly arena tour and now Cluedo 2 to happen. I am so grateful as Miss Scarlett is such an iconic character to play.”

Jason Durr added: "When I read the scripts for the first time, I was in a quiet coach on a train and I started hooting with laughter! A lady told me to be quiet but I couldn’t help but laugh throughout. It’s going to be phenomenal to bring comedy and a classic whodunnit to the stage where the audience get to be the detective.”

Cluedo 2: The Next Chapter is at Mayflower Theatre from June 19 to 23.

Tickets are on sale now from mayflower.org.uk or 023 8071 1811.
