A man is due in court accused of stealing more than £1,700 of items from shops in Southampton, Totton and Chandler's Ford. 

James Robert Simpson, 39, is due to appear in court today having been charged with seven counts of theft from a shop. 

The charges relate to the following incidents: 

  • On April 6 various products worth £123 were taken from the One Stop store on Cumbrian Way in Southampton.
  • On April 13 items to the value of £75 were taken from Asda on Millbrook Road West, Southampton. 
  • On April 14 £134 worth of products were taken from the One Stop on Park Road in Southampton.
  • On April 22 meat and laundry items worth £146.12 were taken from the Morrison’s service station on Spruce Drive in Totton.
  • On May 1 £500 worth of perfume and medication was taken from Park Pharmacy in Chandler’s Ford.
  • On May 1 meat and cheese worth £279.50 was taken from the One Stop on Park Road in Southampton.
  • On May 2 chocolate and confectionary worth £362.42 was taken from the same store.

Simpson, of Hill Lane, has been remanded in custody to appear at Southampton Magistrates' Court today.
