SAINTS Women's under-21s suffered defeat in the Hampshire FA Senior Cup final as they were beaten 3-1 by AFC Bournemouth.

The Cherries took the lead at Aldershot Town's EBB Stadium through a Kenni Thompson penalty before Kaylee Buckingham equalised for the young Saints with an excellent header.

Saints almost took the lead when Isabel Watts cut inside and found Madeline Hotston, whose shot from the edge of the box was saved by the Bournemouth goalkeeper.

Lucy Cooper restored the Bournemouth lead from a corner late in the first half to put the holders into the lead at the interval.

Captain Kate Jeffery almost equalised when her looping strike hit the woodwork before Sky Bedwell was unable to put in the rebound.

It was not to be for Saints under-21s, though, as Erin Bloomfield's late header sealed the trophy for the National League Division One side, who made it back-to-back Hampshire Cup wins.
