By-election is tearing my family apart says candidate (From Daily Echo)

Love the photo Echo! Well done to the photographer. Seems like a character and fair play to him. Love the policies(apart from capital punishment) and he is spot on regarding Maria the Tory loose cannon. Best of luck Ray and hope you sort it out with the family!

.. as they say, there is no such thing as bad publicity.

At the latest story about UKIP and Torys is that UKIP M.E.P. as defected to the Torys, saying that the leader and the party is like Stalinist, well just about confirms it how far right wing UKIP is they are Capitalist Communist.

The only story in Eastleigh is who comes second. The Lib Dems have turned the country upside down for help to save their skins and should hold on-no more scandals permitting. Farage is the new anti political vote the Liberals used to enjoy at the expense of the Tories. Even money on 2nd place.
Labour's votes have gone to prop up the Lib Dems.

He is entitled to be heard.

We the public are entitled to hear what he has to say.

If you don't agree with his policies you don't vote for him.

The way the main parties forget the electorate the minute they are elected and go onto represent the party backers interests only sickens me.

Thanks Daily Echo for giving coverage to independent candidates who don't have financial backers and who are not rich.

The electorate is entitled to a balanced coverage of all candidates, even if they are only likely to attract a small number of votes.

He is spot on about Maria Hutchings, life long Labour supporter who defected to the Tories and spouts UKIP Policies to the electorate, if you don't believe me go look at their 2010 manifesto.

So from a left wing part to a right wing party and spouting extreme right wing views. Not sure what principles she stand for apart from self interests.

I was mainly saying it's a bit of a non story. So his family won't speak to him for a few weeks after the election. So what. Also surely in a democracy all the independent candidates should have equal airtime/ newstime. As southy says we haven't heard anything from Daz Proctor.

Disagreeing with the broadly similar views of the majority doesn't make you correct as the BNP and the Monster Raving Loony Party continually find even though they experience better results than you.

Generally, Politicians are self-serving, publicity junkies who believe that they can tell us day is night and that we are stupid enough to believe it. There is no radical talent and we seem to be teetering on the precipice while these public school, chinless wonders play political tennis whilst resolving nothing. So why not vote Beer, Baccy and Crumpet can't be any worse and at least grubby ambition is not the motivating factor for the candidate to stand.

It will end with his wife leaving him, his children never seeing him again, and him dying alone. How stupid can you be to stand in the hothouse of a by-election without the support of your family. I love politics, but family comes first.

Of course that is why we are here in the first place with Huhne putting his politics (If Lib-Dems have any apart from personal advancemement) before his family.

I'd certainly like to see more about the 'minor' candidates.

We all know what the blue tories, yellow tories, red tories and xenophobe party stand for.

Let's have some hefty features on the NHA, TUSC, Wessex regionalists, and Danny Stupple (independent).

We're all sick to death of the major parties, but their cartel will never be broken whilst the media pander to it.
