Student stabbings: Man remanded in custody
A MAN has been remanded in custody to appear before a judge in connection with the alleged stabbing of two Southampton students.
Hamza Himdy, 20, appeared before the city magistrates facing two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and one of possessing an offensive weapon.
Himdy, who comes from Luton, was remanded to appear at a plea and case management hearing at the city’s Crown Court on March 18.
The allegations follow an incident at Southampton Solent University’s Sir Sidney Kimber halls of residence, in which two students, aged 18 and 23, suffered injuries and had to be taken to the General Hospital by paramedics.
One sustained only superficial injuries and was discharged after treatment but the other had to undergo an operation for life-threatening injuries.
