Police helicopter launched to find teen on the run in Ringwood
A MAJOR air and land search was underway this afternoon after a teenager wanted by police was spotted in a Hampshire community.
Police officers were dispatched on foot while a national police air service helicopter was also drafted in to help locate the suspect, who was seen garden hopping at the back of homes in Ringwood.
The drama unfolded around 2pm in the town when the young man, who is thought to be 16 years old, was seen clambering over garden fences at the back of at least three homes in Winston Way.
He then made his way into Southampton Road where he was seen “hopping” over further gardens before moving in to the Wessex Road area.
Police received further reports of him on the north side of the A31, as well as Eastfield and in woods off Green Lane.
Hampshire police this afternoon confirmed they were searching a wooded area in the hope of finally tracing the man who they want to question over a number of offences.
He is still yet to be found but the helicopter was stood down just before 3pm after almost one hour in the skies over the town.
A total of seven police officers and two PCSO's are involved in the hunt.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
