Police object to licence bid
4:16pm Friday 11th October 2013 in News
POLICE have objected to plans to sell alcohol at a Southampton convenience store.
Ian Yeoman has applied to the city council for a premises licence for Devon Store in Woolston.
Mr Yeoman wants to be able to sell alcohol at the shop in Obelisk Road from 7am to 11pm, seven days a week.
But Hampshire Constabulary has raised concerns that Mr Yeoman would not be able to take on the day-to-day running of the store, as he also has another job.
The city council’s licensing panel will run the rule over his application at a meeting on October 17.
If the licence is granted, the police have requested that conditions be imposed, including the maintenance of a CCTV system, Challenge 25 policy and training for staff.
