A MAN fled with cash after carrying out a terrifying knifepoint robbery on a taxi driver.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses after the driver was robbed in his cab in Milton Road, Southampton, at just after 4am this morning (Wednesday, January 29).
The suspect got into the taxi on Wilton Road at around 4am and asked the 33-year-old driver to collect his wife from Milton Road to take her to hospital.
The driver pulled up in Milton Road but the man held a knife in front of his face, demanded cash and threatened him.
He made off with a quantity of money on a bicycle that was nearby.
The suspect rode along Milton Road towards Bedford Place.
Police say he is described as white and is said to have been “nicely” spoken.
