A HAMPSHIRE dance group for people with disabilities has found a new home, and needs members.
Chance to Dance, which has been running for 20 years, has just moved and is looking for Southampton members.
The group welcomes those with mental or physical disabilities and teaches a mixture of contemporary, jazz and members’ own choreography followed by a cup of tea and a chat. Chance to Dance leader and dance teacher Jo Hancox said: “We really want to raise awareness that having a disability can be seen as a positive.
“It’s become an important part of our members’ daily lives. It’s a chance to get out there, get some social interaction and have a bit of fun with dancing.
“Everyone is different, but a lot of people with disabilities have limited physical contact. What we do helps them to build relationships with other people, they gain confidence and the movement makes them aware of their surroundings.”
They meet every Monday from 3pm to 5pm at St John the Evangelist Church, Fareham, during termtime.
