POLICE are carrying out investigations after a man's body was discovered in a Hampshire town.

Officers raced to a hostel in Junction Road, Totton, yesterday afternoon and put up a cordon after the body was found.

Today officers confirmed the body was of a male but were not in a position to identify him.

The alarm was raised at around 4.45pm, Hampshire police said.

As reported by the Daily Echo, paramedics were seen rushing in and out of the building.

A spokesman for Hampshire police said: “We were called to an address at Junction Road at around 4.45pm after a man's body was found at the address.

“The circumstances are being investigated but we are not in a position to identify the man at this stage.”

Police said last night a sudden death occurred at the building and no suspicious circumstances were found after a routine investigation.

One neighbour said last night: “A first responder vehicle pulled up at around 2.30pm and a team of medics ran right around the back, and then an ambulance turned up and more paramedics ran out. We also saw a scientific unit and saw police moving around one of the flats but we had no idea what was going on.”
