CHILDREN can enjoy a wild time at Mottisfont over the half-term.

National Trust-owned Mottisfont Abbey is running a wildlife week starting tomorrow which will give youngsters the chance to get up close to nature.

Visitors can meet hedgehogs that are being cared for by the Prickly Pals sanctuary, and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Butterfly Conservation will turn the spotlight on butterflies and moths on Monday and Tuesday.

Members of the British Deer Society will be giving tips on deer marking and how to identify different sorts of antlers on Wednesday.

On Thursday and Friday visitors can sneak a peek at some of Britain’s tiniest mammals when the Hampshire Dormouse Group visits and youngsters can hang out with the Hampshire Bat Group on February 22 and 23. Bat group members will be explaining how we can help protect bat habitats.
