HAMPSHIRE's slow recovery from flooding chaos continues today.
Some of the county's worst affected areas like Romsey and Winchester are settling down after military intervention to improve defences.
Budds Lane, Romsey, which has been closed for around a week due to heavy flooding, has been partially reopened by police this morning, while Greatbridge Road, also closed for a week, could follow suit later today.
And rain overnight and this morning will not make matters any worse, according to the Environment Agency.
An agency spokesman said: “Luckily the rain overnight was not significant so it has not had a major impact in Hampshire. Romsey is the main area where things are still happening and its defences are now up and running.
“But the situation in Hampshire has not changed much overnight and from our perspective the key thing is for people to remain vigilant. There are areas across the county that are still at risk of groundwater flooding and we need to make sure residents are aware of the risk and do their best to stay safe.”
Flood warnings are still in place in Romsey, Winchester, Kings Somborne, Cheriton and Shawford.
More rain is expected until around midday today but the Met Office predicts it should then dry up until Wednesday night, when more heavy rain is on its way.
But wind speeds should be much slower than last weekend storms, with peak gusts around 35mph.
