A MOTORCYLIST has died after a road smash on a busy Southampton main road today.
The 50-year-old woman rider came off her Yamaha 900 bike when she was in collision with a grey Vauxhall Insignia on Moorhill Road at 8.47am.
Paramedics took her to the Southampton General Hospital by ambulance but she has been pronounced dead from serious head injuries sustained in the crash.
Police had sealed off the road in both directions between Telegraph Road and West End Road for more than seven hours while they investigated the collision which took place at the Southern Road junction.
It was causing major delays for motorists but the road has now been reopened.
Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was in the area at the time to contact Sergeant Rob Heard at the Eastleigh Roads Death Investigation team on 101.
