COUNCILLORS last night voted to freeze council tax for the sixth year running.

Fareham Borough Council’s full council voted in favour of the measure, which will mean that a band D property in the borough’s council tax will be £140.22 and that Fareham’s element will be unchanged in six years.

They also agreed to earmark £34,601,000 for key projects for the years 2013/14 to 2017/18.

Council leader Cllr Sean Woodward said: “If you take inflation into account over the period it’s a 20 per cent decrease for Fareham.

“We have done that without reducing services and without compulsory redundancies.

“We continue to be almost the lowest council tax in England.”
