SOUTHAMPTON Itchen MP John Denham is calling on people across the city to take part in Fair Employment Week.

The week, which runs from March 17-23, aims to help individuals and groups receive practical advice through unions, agencies and other organisations, raise awareness of the link between weak rights at work and low incomes, and identify key issues for longer-term campaigning.

There will be a publicity event at the Bargate in Southampton on March 22.

Mr Denham is calling on groups to organise events for members or a wider audience to support the week.

To be involved, either by joining the organising group, taking part in events, or organising your own, contact Mr Denham’s Southampton office on 023 8033 9807.

southy says...

Why did not J.Denham and A Whitehead and other Labour MP's call for Unions rights when Labour was in office. Why leave it till now to complain about weak Union Rights and poor wages. In truth Labour are as bad as the Tory party now looking after those that do not need it and them self,s, and it also seems those at the very top of the unions are doing the same they take the money but do very little in return, there is only 1 or 2 that are fighting for there workers that they represent
