A MAN has been arrested after a stolen car smashed into a Hampshire home this afternoon.
The Land Rover Discovery crashed in to a Grade II listed property in Bursledon shortly before 3.30pm.
A major police manhunt was launched with around 20 officers involved, alongside tracker dogs, to catch the man who was seen running from the scene, on School Road.
But at 6pm this evening, a man, believed to be in his mid-30's was arrested at an address in Hamble and is currently in custody.
The vehicle was taken from a garage in nearby Lowford before it careered through a brick wall and into the pillar of the home causing structural damage.
A woman and her five-month-old grandson were inside the property at the time.
Police were first alerted at 3.40pm to a report of the black car being taken from the Europa Garage.
According to Hampshire Police the man was seen on the forecourt on a bicycle before getting into the Land Rover and driving off.
A member of staff from the garage is reported to have run off after the stolen vehicle as it was being driven away.
Just 10 minutes later the car was then driven into the house, sparking 999 calls and a police search in the area.
