Major motorway hold ups after over running roadworks

MOTORISTS on a Hampshire motorway this morning are facing long delays due to overrunning road works.

Continuing works by the Highways Agency at junction 5 and junction 6 of the M3 have sparked major traffic jams heading northbound, with drivers experiencing delays of up to 55 minutes.

Only the hard shoulder and lane one had been open, but now all lanes have been reopened, cutting delays to about 30 minutes, reaching as far back as junction 7.

The A30 at Old Basing-Hook is also slow.

traffic queues are a daily occurrence in our region; it would be better if you reported on what our ineffectual public/ local authorities are going to do about the capacity on our roads especially in light of the huge population increase in the region. I think you'll find that they are doing nothing about it.

The road works are there precisely because they ARE doing something about it! They are preparing the M3 up there for hard shoulder running ie 4 lanes!
That ain't doing nothing.
