Auditions for The Voice take place in Southampton tomorrow

Daily Echo: The Voice auditions coming to the city The Voice auditions coming to the city

ONE of TV’s biggest talent shows is coming to Southampton to look for the UK's next singing sensation.

Auditions for The Voice take place in the city tomorrow and are the first step along the road which could end in being mentored by stars like Tom Jones and Will.I.Am.

This year 9.41 million viewers tuned in to watch hopefuls try to impress the judges, which also included pop princess Kylie Minogue, and Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson.

Auditions will be held at the Academy of Music and Sound in Chapel Road, Chapel, from 11.30am with a free vocal workshop from vocal coach Rosalind Fountain.

Not sure that this is in Shirley SO14 5GL is Chapel Road near to St Mary's Street and St Mary's Church. The map shows Janson Road in Shirley which is SO15 5GL. Could be a lot of confused and upset people wandering around Shirley tomorrow.

The same response as the Cack Factor auditions - If I'm not there feel free to start without me.

Begging Message to TV people - Can we not see an end to these awful `Wannabe` talent contests

Quite. I think they're awful, personally, but guess what? The people who produce them know far more about what viewers want than a bunch of moaning nobodies - myself included - on some local news website do. If the majority of people in this country didn't want to watch this garbage, it wouldn't be produced any more. Nobody's holding a gun to our heads and making us watch it.

If you stay away from all media regarding it, it won't even start never mind end. However you choose to ignore that simple solution already so if you wish to end it, leave stories like this alone and don't watch the shows.

People bring so much stress to themselves it baffles me sometimes.

Begging message to TV People - Ignore people like sburman as he doesn't like nor watch your show. The 8million+ people who do watch and do like and do vote are the ones you should - and clearly do - care about. The shows are made for them.

Footnote - I hate Cricket and Eastenders. But I'm savvy enough to understand that a few people who do hate a show are not enough to get it cancelled as long as it makes a profit for the producers. Keep Cricket and Eastenders on all you like, I won't watch it though, nor will I voluntarily click on a story about either one to complain that it's still on. I care that little.

Trouble is, you end up avoiding all media altogether. Example: there's a story about The Voice in the Echo today (obviously). So do we just not read the Echo any more, in case there's the occasional story about reality audition tv celebrity nonsense? Well, maybe. But all but the broadest of broadsheets, and most TV and radio news, consider this stuff newsworthy for some reason these days, so avoiding it altogether is virtually impossible if one wishes to remain even marginally informed of current events.

I get what you're saying. But reading a story in a mainstream paper and actually coming onto a website to complain about it being on just because you don't like it is not logical or intelligent progression from one t'other.

I read newspapers. Occasionally I'll see a story about something I don't agree should be on TV or in the public eye. I'll see the headline, determine instantly that this story is not for me, and move on with my life. Forgetting about it and ignoring it. What I don't do is log on to whatever paper's website it was in and whine about it. Nothing will change, just hundreds of random people you will never meet now know you don't like something. Waste of time and waste of energy.

Do other things. Pursue your own hobbies and leave others to pursue theirs.
