MORE than 50 people braved torrential downpours to spruce up part of the Solent shoreline in Southampton.

Staff at Marks & Spencer in WestQuay along with the Friends of Weston Shore and other volunteers descended on Weston Shore beach to clear up rubbish and protect the area’s marine life.

The event collected more than 50kg of rubbish.
