TODAY we can reveal the early leader in the Shop for Schools competition being run in conjunction with the Marlands Shopping Centre.
Launched last month the promotion gives shoppers the chance to win their local school hundreds of pounds worth of equipment.
Each time a purchase is made in the Southampton shopping centre the money spent can be converted into points which are then added to the school of the shopper’s choice.
The school that has accumulated the most points by the end of the promotion on June 20 will win £500 worth of equipment for their school. Runners up will also be in line for prizes.
Setting the early pace after the first week is Sholing Infant School, which has secured the top spot on the latest league table.
Lisa Houghton, head teacher at Sholing Infant School said: “We are delighted to have taken an early lead and would like to thank everyone that has supported us so far.
“It is early days in the competition so hopefully we can continue to do well. It would be great to be in with a chance of having some extra funds to spend on equipment for our pupils.”
Hot on their heels are St Mark’s Church of England school and Fawley Infant school with last year’s winner Glenfield also making the top ten schools.
Don’t miss the Daily Echo for the chance to collect bonus point vouchers.
