We’re on our way to Wembley.

Thousands of of football fans left Sourthampton this morning bound for the capital as the city’s Sholing FC bid for glory.

The Wessex League Champions take on West Auckland in the F A Vase final this afternoon at the national stadium.

This morning a fleet of coaches packed with fans left the city hoping to cheer the Boatmen on to victory.

They included 11 coaches all named after one of the Sholing players.

One coach was even totally full up with the family of 35-year-old midfielder Tyronne Bowers.

Win or lose it will be an emotional day at the 90,000 seater stadium as the match is the last one in charge for manager Dave Diaper.

Daily Echo:

Diaper, who also doubles up as the club's chairman, has been manager since the summer of 2000 but announced this week he is relinquishing the manager’s role after today’s match.
