ROWERS young and old took to the water for a Hampshire contest that is celebrating its tenth year.

The 10th Hamble River Raid took place this afternoon with 35 boats taking part.

Crowds on the shoreline at Hamble Quay basked in the sunshine and enjoyed ice creams as they waited for the crews, which were let off in 30 second intervals, to return and enjoyed the party atmosphere.

Teams had to row from Hamble Quay to the Jolly Sailor at Burlsedon and back, then ring the bell to record their time.
