TWO MEN have appeared in court this morning charged with holding another person in slavery after police targeted a car wash in Southampton.

Kreshnik Dida, 27, of Southdene Road, Chandler's Ford and Avdi Dida, 26, of Portsmouth Road, Southampton are both accused of ten counts each of knowingly holding another person in slavery or servitude.

They both appeared at Southampton Magistrates Court and were bailed to appear at Southampton Crown Court next month.

Earlier this week, police and other agencies visited a car wash business on Bitterne Road West, Bitterne, as part of a day of visits to similar sites across Hampshire.

Ten men were identified as potential victims of exploitation and taken to a reception centre and are continuing to receive emotional and practical support.
