A YOUNG woman was threatened and pushed to the floor in an attempted robbery in Southampton.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the 18-year-old woman, who was walking her dog along an alley between Selbourne Avenue and Yeovil Chase in Bitterne, when the attacker demanded her phone and purse.

The woman threatened to punch the attacker who then pushed her to the floor and ran off empty handed.

The attempted robbery happened on June 5, at around 9pm and the man is described as white, 5ft 9 inches tall, in his late teens or early 20s and slim.

He was wearing a washed-out blue sweatshirt type tracksuit top and tracksuit bottoms with small zip on the bottom of the legs.
