MAJOR roads have reopened after two hours of traffic chaos when a pedestrian was hit by a car.

The incident took place in Bassett Avenue, Southampton, and delayed outbound traffic from the city with the road closed northbound from Memorial Roundabout and southbound from Chilworth Roundabout.

The man was laying in the road after he had hit the window screen and roof of the car like he was lifeless. I hope he is ok. There has already been a death on that road not long ago.

I swear to god, I saw a woman holding a hand mirror in one hand and brushing her hair with the other, on the same road this afternoon.

The accident was very bad and I hope the guy recovers. I live in Winchester road and saw from my first floor flat the terrible back up of traffic. When you looked at the traffic and the behaviour of motorists, many were on their mobiles, texting and lane discipline was just unbelievable. The tailback of traffic was very bad up Winchester road but as I said it could have been a lot better if all motorists paid more attention to what they were doing..

Echo seem to be more concerned with the traffic problem caused rather than the person injured. Hope he's ok.
