A MURDER probe is underway in Southampton after a 71year-old man was found collapsed in the street.

Police have confirmed that four people have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a 71 -year-old man in Southampton.

Officers were called to Morris Road just after 10.15pm last night following reports of a man collapsed in the street.

He was taken by ambulance to Southampton General Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Police confirmed they are currently identifying and tracing next-of-kin, and will not be in a position to confirm the identity of the victim until they have been informed and formal identification has taken place.

A post mortem examination will be conducted by a Home Office pathologist in due course to help establish cause of death.

Part of Morris Road is currently closed whilst a forensic investigation is carried out and is likely to remain closed for most of today.

The four arrested, three men aged 35, 43 and 53, and a 69-year-old woman, are currently in custody they will be questioned by police throughout today.
