A pensioner arrested by police investigating the murder of a man found dead on a Southampton street has today been released.

The 69-year-old woman was released on bail, Hampshire Police revealed this morning.

She was one of four arrested by officers in connection with their investigation into the death of the 70-year-old, who was last night named by police.

Officers launched a murder investigation following the discovery of John William Willdig.

Hampshire police closed off two roads for most of yesterday while they investigated the death of the 70-year-old, of Nelson Road, Southampton.

It followed an incident in Morris Road at around 10:15pm on Monday.

Two men, aged 43 and 53, arrested in connection with the death were last night released bailed.

A 35-year-old man also arrested in connection with the death, remains in police custody.

A police spokesman said officers are focussing their investigation on establishing the relationship between all those arrested and the deceased, and are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident at this time.
