A WOMAN motorist needed hospital treatment after a two-car smash on a busy Southampton main road last night.

The driver – in her 50s – was one of two drivers hurt when a Vauxhall Zafira and Mini Cooper were in collision in Manor Farm Road, Bitterne Park, close to Woodmill Road roundabout at 6.45pm.

Firefighters from St Mary’s used cutting equipment to remove the roof and free her before she was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The road was partially closed for nearly an hour.

One woman was taken to Southampton General Hospital by South Central Ambulance Service suffering from non-life threatening neck and back injuries.
