ROMSEY Extra Parish Council has a new leader.

Chris Wesson has been appointed chairman after Teresa Hibberd stepped down from the role after three years at the helm.

Mrs Hibberd is now vice-chairman of the grass roots authority whose area includes Abbotswood, Ashfield, Belbins, Crampmoor, Highwood, Lee, Ridge and Woodley.

“I know Councillor Chris Wesson will do an excellent job and I support him fully. It has been an honour and privilege to represent Romsey Extra at the many civic and parish events. I have met so many people in and around the parish and I have always endorsed the many different groups and volunteers who work hard in our community,” said Mrs Hibberd. A new face who has joined the council is Andy Carter. He was co-opted following the departure of Miles Willshire who lost his seat in April after failing to turn up to six meetings in a row.

Mr Carter has lived in Romsey since 1977 and before he retired was deputy head teacher at a secondary school .
