A HAMPSHIRE village went carnival crazy last night as residents celebrated an outpouring of community spirit.

Groups based in the Sway area pulled together to ensure that the annual carnival was a huge success.

Daily Echo:

Hundreds of people lined the streets as a colourful procession of floats made its way through the parish.

The theme of this year’s procession was myths and legends, which gave villagers plenty of scope to let their imaginations run riot.

The varied collection of entries set off fromJubilee Field and took about an hour to complete their journey around the village.

Today sees the annual village fete and dog show at Jubilee Field, where attractions will include craft and tabletop sales, a grand draw and children’s sideshows.

Daily Echo:

The celebrations continue tomorrow with a family picnic and thanksgiving service at St Luke’s Church.

Last year’s carnival raised £994 for charity, more than double the figure recorded the previous year.
