A Hampshire teenager has been accepted to the UK’s leading youth brass band.

Rebecca Charters, 15, a pupil at Swanmore College, will attend this year’s summer course with the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain, which gives young instrumentalists the chance to perform advanced music and receive high quality teaching.

It takes place on August 2-9 at Wymondham College in Norfolk and is celebrating its 62nd anniversary.

Cornet player Rebecca, of Waltham Chase, said: “I’m very pleased. I haven’t been in the youth band before and the summer course has got great teachers. I’m excited to start.”
