A Southampton supermarket has announced its charity partner for 2014.

Sainsbury’s superstore in Portswood will be supporting Southampton Mobility Guide Dogs after a customer vote.

Last year the store raised £3,478 for the Rose Road Association, which helps to provide services to disabled children and young people in Hampshire.

To mark the start of fundraising events for Southampton Mobility Dogs, which helps blind and partially sighted people, Sainsbury’s will hold a launch event tomorrow.

There will be a ‘Give our puppy a name’ competition and various events.

Katie Smith, from the charity, said: “Guide Dogs is really grateful Sainsbury’s in Portswood has chosen it to be its charity for the year.”
