POLICE are investigating an alleged assault outside a restaurant in Southampton.

The police were called Town Quay at about 3am after receiving reports that a man had been attacked.

A man in his 50s suffered a minor head injury and was taken to Southampton General Hospital, while officers closed off part of Town Quay to investigate the scene.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, and is currently helping police with their investigations.
