A HAMPSHIRE city was shaken and stirred as a cocktail week ended in style.

Winchester Cocktail Week saw hundreds of revellers enjoy cocktails at venues dotted across the city.

And a grand finale party brought the curtain down on the week on Saturday.

It was the first time the event has come to Winchester and businesses were quick to take up the chance to be involved in the week which ran from February 1 to 7.

Cocktail nights and themed events were hosted at Chococo, Forte Kitchen, Hotel Du Vin, Holiday Inn, Kyoto Kitchen, River Cottage Canteen, No5 Bridge Street, Hotel Du Vin, The Wykeham Arms, The Green Man and many others.

The week also saw some of the region’s top bartenders battle it out for a prestigious cocktail making trophy at the Guildhall.

The Winchester Cup Trophy, was won by Maurizio Anders Laudato from the Chewton Glen Hotel in the New Forest.

The week was organised by Winchester BID and events company and blog Cabinet Rooms, run by Gary Whiter and Marcus Roe Co-organiser Gary Whiter hailed it a huge success and said they are already in talks to pencil in a date to return next year.

He said that nothing is yet set in stone but he hopes the event will be back from February 6 to 12 in 2017.

Mr Whiter, said:”It was really good, we had the Grand Finale party on Saturday and that was the perfect end to a perfect week.

“The places hosting events were absolutely packed out at times and the footfall was that people were going to all the events it was busier than we ever anticipated and it was great to see so many people enjoying themselves.”

Mr Whiter thanked customers and business for taking part in the week and added:”We are all about discovery and learning new things at Cabinet Rooms, one of those things that made it a success is that the independent businesses took that ethos on board and partnered with premiere drink companies.

“The other thing was that people really got out there and moved around the city and went to places they have never been to before.”
