A MAN has been jailed for six months after being caught with a six-inch knife in public.
Mark Fancher admitted the charge and was ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.
Magistrates ordered the knife be destroyed but that there be no order for costs because of Fancher's lack of means.
The previous day to the knife offence he appeared in the same courthouse at Basingstoke to be fined for attacking a policeman and community support officer.
Fancher, 46, of Jewry Street, Winchester, admitted assaulting PC David Brown and PCSO Laurence Day on July 17. For each attack he was fined £50 with a £30 victim surcharge.
