SOUTHAMPTON's revelers will be out in force this evening for one of the biggest nights of the year.

Over 7,000 revellers are expected to hit the city's night venues to see in the New Year.

Nightclub hotspot Bedford Place will be transformed into an alpine snow resort with 3,000 revellers expected at six venues, including Orange Rooms, Buddha Lounge, Tokyo Bar and The Social for an ‘Alpine multi-venue themed event’ with an outdoor Arctic silent disco and heated alpine marquees part of the itinerary.

Reiss Stanford, assistant manager of Orange Rooms Bar, said: ‘‘We’re really looking forward to bringing Snowballin' back to Southampton. This time it's going to be even bigger and better!

"Spanning across six venues with some amazing people involved such as High Tide and Psychedelia, there really is something for everyone.'’

Meanwhile, award-winning Club MTV will be running the show at Oceana with underground bass and EDM DJ’s R3WIRE and VARSKI combining forces to headline at the ‘superclub’.

Club MTV bosses have also revealed plans to film the festivities including their massive midnight moment live on camera for MTV itself.

A spokesperson for the superclub said: "We’re proud to be bringing Club MTV to the biggest city on the South coast. MTV have recently done some massive shows including MTV Crashes, Plymouth.

"Let's say a huge farewell to 2016 and a warm welcome to 2017. Last year we had record breaking numbers for the venue and it looks set to be the same this year.’’

Switch Nightclub have partnered with South Coast drum and bass brand On a Mission.

Headlining on the decks will be DJ Friction who will be offering up a combination of liquid grooves and ravey bass hits along with big name drum and bass legends.

The sell-out event is a highlight of Switch’s calendar following Elrow, which brought its legendary Spanish fiesta-style rave to the Above Bar venue earlier this month.

However, Hampshire Police are encouraging revellers to have a good time but at the same time be responsible while out in town.

Southampton District Commander, Superintendent Alison Heydari said: "We want everyone to have a good time on New Year’s Eve, but it’s important to take responsibility for your drinking.

"We are working with licensees to reduce the risks of crime and disorder, and our officers will be ready to deal with alcohol-related problems as they occur.’’

Venues have promised security measures to reduce trouble and allow revellers to bring in 2017 in style.

Mr Stanford added: "All venues involved are encouraging responsible drinking and will have plenty of security and welfare staff attending the event to make sure everyone has an enjoyable time.’’
