HE is the Hampshire daredevil who has climbed cranes, jumped off buildings and even featured in a music video.

Now free-runner Danny Morgan is taking on one of the toughest obstacle courses on television in the hopes of becoming ITV’s Ninja Warrior.

Danny is a plumbing and heating engineer by day and a nightclub bartender by night, but that does not stop him from training at least two hours every day.

The 24-year-old has always had a passion for fitness dating back to when he was a student at Redbridge School.

As a teenager, Danny struggled to keep up in his PE classes, this spurred a determination to work on his fitness.

He said: “I’m never entirely happy with where I am at in life, I always want more for myself. I try to push my limits.”

After leaving school, he became a qualified fitness trainer and has helped hundreds of Hampshire residents work on their fitness.

Now the Freemantle man has entered the new series of Ninja Warrior UK which sees 250 wannabe warriors tackle obstacles including the Log Grip, Floating Tiles, Jump Hang, Swing Circle and a Warped Wall.

“I was confident of my ability when I applied but I did not realise how psychologically as well as physically challenging it would be.”

But Danny is no stranger to a challenge. This summer, alongside his two friends Leon Norty and Ben Rawlings, cycled from Southampton Common to Edinburgh to raise money for Cancer Research, Macmillan Cancer Support and MS Society.

Inspired by their friend, Joshua Middleton, who suffers from MS, the trio’s four-day ride raised £3,000.

Danny dreams of opening his own fitness centre in Southampton.

He said: “I want to open an all-purpose gym for everybody, to give back to the community in the right way.”

To train for the show, Danny used the outdoors, lifting logs and climbing trees: “A lot of people think you need a gym membership to stay super fit but that isn’t the case at all – my favourite place to train is the New Forest.

Danny has advice for those wanting to achieve similar goals: “Set realistic new year’s goals, don’t let over eating at Christmas get you down. Go into the new year with realistic goals and push for a better future.”

The first episode of Ninja Warrior UK will air tonight at 7pm.
