Last chance to have say on Welborne Plan

First published in News

THE public has less than six weeks to have a final say on plans for a controversial new community.

The Welborne Plan, which is an outline for 6,500 homes to the north of Fareham, is going through a final consultation to test its “soundness” before going before a Government planning inspector.

If found sound by the inspector, the plan will then be adopted by the council around the end of the year and will be used when making decisions on future planning applications.

However comments on plans for the new community called Welborne can at this stage only focus on whether the plan meets national planning guidelines and that the process met legal requirements.

To make a representation email planningpolicy@ fareham.gov.uk or log on to Fareham.gov.uk/ consultations or call 01329 236100.

Residents can write a letter declaring their views and post or deliver it to:
Fareham Borough Council, Civic Offices, Civic Way, Fareham, Hampshire, PO16 7AZ.

One does not have to use the on-line form. The link on the council website is not user friendly a looks Intimidating.

If you are making an objection on the Welborne Plan please make sure you keep to the soundness of the plan and don't go off track.

Not only will this addition of at least 13000 additional cars gridlock Fareham Town, Wickham and the Portchester area but also the knock on effect of the Gosport traffic trying to avoid the already at capacity M27 J10 and J11 will directly effect the Warsash, Swanwick & Whiteley areas of Fareham whatever Councillors Woodward & Swanbrow et al have promised.

This town is being marketed as a 'self contained' development with its own facilities and employment opportunities. Please don't believe this ridiculous argument. How can you stop 12000 people moving about for jobs, leisure, health care etc. Apparently everyone is going to use the bus to get around as well ;) ! The promised infrastructure won't be build for many years after the first houses. These are the things that everyone need to know as it WILL affect everyone in the Portsmouth and Soton areas with this huge influx of houses, people and cars. So please pass on the word, look at the websites, make up your own mind and record your comments for the Govt Inspector to read. Remember, you only have until the11th April to do this. Do this before its too late!
