THE public has less than six weeks to have a final say on plans for a controversial new community.

The Welborne Plan, which is an outline for 6,500 homes to the north of Fareham, is going through a final consultation to test its “soundness” before going before a Government planning inspector.

If found sound by the inspector, the plan will then be adopted by the council around the end of the year and will be used when making decisions on future planning applications.

However comments on plans for the new community called Welborne can at this stage only focus on whether the plan meets national planning guidelines and that the process met legal requirements.
