Hampshire went pancake crazy today as schools and communities celebrated Shrove Tuesday.

Daily Echo:

Towns and villages across the county played host to a combination of pancake races and pancake-tossing competitions, which gave people a chance to show off their skills with a frying pan.

Those determined to have a flippin’ good time and give their rivals a battering included 90 Year 2 pupils from two schools in Eastleigh.

Eastleigh Baptist Church staged a series of pancake races near the Sainsbury’s store for children from the Crescent and Norwood primary schools.

Eastleigh College’s hospitality and catering students are holding a charity pancake party, with those involved making and selling pancakes to raise funds for the Cardiomyopathy Association.

The event is part of the Great Pancake Party organised by the heart muscle disease charity, which supports affected families.

Daily Echo:

The fun continued this afternoon with a series of pancake races in Beaulieu High Street, where pupils from the village school were be joined by other members of the community.

The event will be started by Cllr Ken Thornber, chairman and former leader of Hampshire County Council.
