A NOTORIOUS traffic blackspot has seen another accident - just hours before safety campaigners meet to discuss the problems.

The three-car crash happened on the junction of South East Road and Kathleen Road in Sholing, Southampton, it is believed no-one was badly hurt, but one car had to be written off.

Residents living near the junction have seen numerous crashes like this one since 2011 after Southampton City Council changed the priorities there in 2011 so that people travelling from South East Road have right of way rather than the other way round.

Tonight residents will meet with representatives from Balfour Beatty, Sholing ward councillor Dan Jeffrey and council officers will discuss ways to make the junction safer.

Safety campaigner David Poore from South East Road, said: “It is quite ironic that it has happened at this time because they did alot of flyering a couple of days ago in the and around that area and for it to happen so close is a bit uncanny.”

“It is another reason why the junction needs to be sorted out as a priority.”

The meeting will take place at St Marys Church Hall in St Monica's Road tonight at 6.30pm.
