THEY swapped the shop floor for the saddle as part of a major fundraising drive.

Four managers from one of the biggest supermarkets in Hampshire pedalled across the county not once, but twice, for Sport Relief.

They set off from Sainsbury’s in Christchurch, Dorset, before cycling all the way to the Hedge End store, where they work.

Deputy manager Dani Ruiz-Perez, grocery boss Jos Sweeney, general merchandise supremo Matt Huntington and produce chief Jon Lacey all saddled up for the 70-mile round trip.

They arrived in Hedge End at 10.30am to cheers of support before heading off back across the New Forest.

It is the latest in a string of fundraisers taking place at the store in support of the sports charity bonanza.

Meanwhile, in Southampton, mayoress Mary White is looking to break records by attracting the largest number of people dressed as bumblebees.

She wants more than 500 human bees at Guildhall Square on Sunday in the hope of raising vital funds for Sport Relief and raising awareness of declining bee numbers across the UK.

The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile will set off from Guildhall Square at 11am – just turn up to take part.

The Southampton Mile is just the start of Hampshire’s Sport Relief activities.

There are more than ten different runs and swims taking place throughout the county and you can still enter the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games by visiting sportrelief.com.
