IT was a full house for one Hampshire resident who scooped a major cash windfall – playing bingo!

The 51-year-old man couldn’t believe his luck as his numbers came in one by one – scooping him a huge £91,000 in the national jackpot.

The winner – who has asked not to be named – has been a regular at Leo Leisure Bingo Eastleigh for around 15 years, but has never won so big.

Club manager Simon Phillips said the new national jackpot game had only been running since the end of February and staff were delighted to get a big winner so quickly.

He said: “We were all very excited by the new National Bingo Game Jackpot and were amazed when our club called ‘house’ on one of the winning tickets.

“The winner is a regular here and is well-known to all the staff and players at the club.

“We’re so pleased for him and look forward to presenting him with his prize.”

It is the biggest win the club has ever seen, topping £50,000 which was won by a player seven years ago.

Mr Phillips, who has worked at the Leigh Road club for 15 years, added: “It was such a shock to everyone when we found out that he had won the jackpot prize.

“They called ‘house’ quite late in the game, after 58 numbers were called, so no one was expecting a big win, let alone the top prize.

“It was a bit of a fluke really. I’ve been working in bingo for years and I’ve only ever seen the game run to that many numbers twice before.”
