PUPILS from St Francis Primary School got a chance to enjoy their break-time in style when they helped launch a new community cafe.

The cafe at the Knightwood Leisure Centre was opened with support from the parish council in Valley Park and is staffed by volunteers.

As part of the launch pupils from the school were asked to create art explaining what they liked about living in the area.

The result was an array of poems, pictures and writing now on show in the cafe hoped to become a hub of community activity and events.

Councillor Alan Dowden said: “We were amazed by the quality of work the pupils produced, it makes for a fabulous display in the new cafe we hope will be enjoyed by the community.”
