CLASSIC cars will be taking to rural lanes across Hampshire next month in aid of a regional children’s hospice.

All donations to the Standard Motor Club New Forest Group’s annual classic charity drive day will go to Naomi House and Jack’s Place children’s hospice at Sutton Scotney near Winchester.

Rally organiser Darrell Cunningham said he hoped people would support the event ,which is on April 27 and will cover about 40 miles – much of it country lanes.

Cars will set off at 11.30am from the Bear and Ragged Staff at Michelmersh, which is the Standard Motor Club New Forest Group’s HQ. Darrell, who lives at King’s Somborne, will lead the drive in his blue 75-year-old Standard Flying 8 Tourer named Stan.

He is also taking part in the London to Brighton Classic Car Run on June 1 and is hoping people with gather at the Bear and Ragged Staff the day before at 11.30am to wave him off.

His journey from Hampshire to London and Brighton and back to his King’s Somborne home will cover 210 miles and be raising more cash for Naomi House children’s hospice.
