POLICE are hunting a thief who mugged a man in a Hampshire underpass.

The 42-year-old victim lost £200 after the attacker made off with his wallet.

He had been walking past McDonalds into an underpass near Portsbridge Roundabout, Portsmouth, when he felt a metallic object pressed against his neck and told to hand over his wallet.

The robber was described as white, 5ft 10ins tall, of stocky build and in his early 30s.

He was wearing a red hoodie, dark jacket, blue jeans and white basketball type trainers.

Detective Constable Andrew Larder said: “Incidents like this are uncommon in the area but we’d always advise people they should remain vigilance and report any suspicious behaviour.”

The incident occurred between 3.30pm and 4pm on Friday, March 28.

Anyone with information should call Fratton CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
