TWO brothers are due in court today charged with murdering newsagent Choudhry Zishan.

Sam McKinley, 25, and Jonathan McKinley, 22, of no fixed abode, were charged by detectives last night after three days in custody being quizzed about the killing.

Both men were arrested at a flat in Monks Way, Eastleigh, early on Sunday morning – just hours after 35-year-old Mr Zishan was attacked in the street outside his home.

The flat in Monks Way was one of two addresses in the town to be searched by police – the other was in George Wright Close.

As previously reported, paramedics tried to save the popular newsagent at the scene before rushing him to Southampton General Hospital, where he died from head injuries.

The attack happened as Mr Zishan left his High Street home at around 4.30am to collect the Sunday newspapers for his customers.

He lived above Newsmarket with his sixmonths pregnant wife Sabina and their son, five.

The charges were brought against the brothers last night. They were remanded in police custody ahead of their appearance at Southampton Magistrates Court this morning.

Last night Mr Zishan’s devastated customers continued to pay tribute to him, describing him as “a pillar of the community”.

A sea of floral tributes adorned the forecourt of a Southampton newsagents – one of five that Mr Zishan owned – while customers broke down in tears as they paid their respects at Isaac’s News in Queensway.

Ann O’Brien, 77, from Queens Way, said: “He would greet me with a hug all the time and ask how I was. To hear this has happened is horrible.”

Mr Zishan’s business partner, Barry Isaac, 64, told how he heard something had happened at around 6am on Sunday.

He said: “I presumed he was sick or unwell and came to open up, but felt to myself something wasn’t quite right “I just can’t believe it’s happened. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Mr Isaac hailed Mr Zishan as a “lovely man” and added: “You couldn’t ask for a better person.

“He was really looking forward to the new baby and was often talking about his little boy.”
