Prisoner’s death ‘natural’
A LIFELONG smoker died due to lung disease, an inquest heard.
Robert Coulson died last August aged 72 at Royal Hampshire County Hospital after being transferred from HMP Winchester with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and emphysema.
He was jailed for drug offences at Winchester in January 2013, where he was treated on its medical wing.
An NHS England review ruled out any problems with his treatment at the prison. Coroner Grahame Short recorded a verdict of death due to natural causes.
