THESE brightly coloured mannequins are to be put up across Southampton to promote an art project which it is hoped will produce one of the world’s largest portraits.

Artist Peter Symonds will be placing these fluorescent fellows in locations across the city to draw attention to a portrait involving hundreds of people this summer.

With the models Peter, 42, from Southampton, hopes to generate interest in his art project.

On Saturday, June 14 at 2pm at the EjectorSeat Festival at Palmerston Park he will take three photographs involving 500 people wearing same coloured clothing from a 34-metre high crane.

Peter said: “Every person will have not only come together to enjoy each other’s company and interact within a social network but will have played a huge part in contributing to a timeless piece of art.”

He has already taken the first ten photos as part of the project and on June 14 he will be photographing scores of people in green, red and blue tops.
